About Willamette Valley Concert Band

The Willamette Valley Concert Band formed in the spring of 1970 offering band members opportunities for self-expression through the medium of high quality music. Band membership was predominantly from Albany but now includes members from Benton, Linn, Marion and Polk Counties. The group was originally called The Albany Civic Band. Later, the name was changed to Linn Benton Concert Band. We’re now in our 49th year and call ourselves the Willamette Valley Concert Band. We rehearse Thursday evenings at the South Albany High School band room from September through July. The group performs several concerts per year at various locations around the Willamette Valley. Participation in the band is open to adult musicians without audition as openings occur. The band entered into a partnership with the GAPS District in the form of a mentoring program several years ago. Band members provide mentorship assistance and help GAPS directors in various capacities in exchange for facility and equipment usage. With the help of doners, the band also provides financial assistance to area band programs and offers scholarships for students to attend summer music camps as we have finances available. Again, your donations help the band accomplish this goal.
